See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

If they do make a DMC6, I want to see more of how Dante, Nero and the gang interact with the rest of the world. How does the general populace view these strange men and women who fight demons and end the catastrophes?

Are there other devil hunters out there? If so, what’s the culture and etiquette of the business? How widespread is the knowledge of demons?

So far all the games have had a very…isolated (?) approach to the story. DMC1 took place on Mundus’ island so naturally there were no “outsiders” on the job, but Dante does get a call at the start and doesn’t get the right password and hangs up.

DMC2 is set in a more industrial city with a village nearby, but the story is so bare bones and it seems the entire population consists of Arius, Matier and Lucia, which is a shame.

DMC3 is set in the same street where Dante has his shop, but the entire area is totalled and presumably everyone is dead. Which begs the question of who rebuilt the entire place. And how. Were Dante and Lady given any kind of credit? Did the tower collapse by itself or did they demolish it?

DMC4 had a great opportunity to show us the world through the eyes of the everyman, but doesn’t take it. Its focused on the very confusing religion and motivation of Sanctus and his goons.

DMC5 has everything destroyed and everyone dead again.

I dunno, I just want more interactions between our heroes and the “real world”

And no, the DMC anime doesn’t count.

“don’t call me jules, you haven’t earned it” is so insane

the thing is like. getting to call him jules is obviously a sign that he respects you. but it also speaks to how he sees himself, he has an inflated ego to say the least. so the question is, why does he not respect dex? why does nobody respect dex? is it because he’s smart, abrasive, driven, kind of cocky? there’s clearly something innately unlikeable about him that rubs people the wrong way. yet he doesn’t really do anything to deserve a reputation, right until the end of sr1 he remains loyal and helpful. so i think the issue is that he seems kind of like a fake. he clearly thinks himself better than the other saints—they probably think he’s not really one of them, that his blood doesn’t run purple—but at the same time he kind of sucks up to the boss (bit of a tangent but for me this seems to be because he wants to elevate himself out of a status of poverty and not out of any maliciousness, but i’d agree that he’s not really in it for the saints, that’s obvious when he drops flags and moves on). so why doesn’t julius like him? well first of all, i don’t think julius holds much value in any of his people (with maybe troy being the exception?). lin dying was kind of a shame but it was for a good (his) cause. johnny getting his leg shot up was expected of him and he soldiered on like he was supposed to. but dex disobeys orders and he does it in a way that makes julius look inferior. i think there is just something about dex that strikes julius as him being a judas figure—because of course julius sees himself as jesus

It may also be that with the whole drug deal thing, Dex was doing business beyond “cleaning up the city” that the Saints are “supposed” to be doing. Julius saw Dex take the Saints in the direction of being just another street gang that plagues the city with that move.

And then Julius goes along with it. Whether because of his own lust for power or because he felt cornered its anyone’s guess. Numerous npc voice lines mention that Julius is a coward, two-faced and never follows through.

And some voice lines mention that Dex might “pull some Warren Williams shit”. It wouldn’t be a stretch that the other gang members disliked him because of his intellect. It happens in real life as well. And it starts an endless cycle of them thinking he feels he’s better than his peers and him agreeing with that sentiment because of their behaviour and lack of foresight i.e. the way Johnny handles things.

There’s layers upon layers to Julius and Dex’ characters and of course they’re the two guys with the least amount of exploration in SR2
